Αρχαία ελληνική γλώσσαAbstract
The scope of this postgraduate thesis was to develop innovative software which exploits Internet technologies in order to provide teaching and learning functionalities for the ancient Greek language of the First high school class.
As a result a web application was developed to offer a uniform environment for the dissemination of knowledge concerning the ancient Greek language. The software offers free to access theoretical lessons to everyone who has Internet access using only a web browser. The theory lessons are structured into sections and published using the HTML language in combination with CSS3.
In order for the software to obtain interactivity and enhance the learning process, a practical examination environment was also developed. Each exam may consist of a combination of exercises. Each exercise may be a single choice, multiple choice or fill-the-blanks one. Only registered users may gain access to the exams section, in order to record their performance. The system administrator may monitor the progress of each individual learner.
Finally, a separate section a graphic representation of the exam results in order to create a comprehensive direct overview of the progress of the learner.
The software is based on open web technologies and can provide the basis for developing a comprehensive platform to integrate additional theoretical modules and enrich it with new exercises and tests. Also, the adoption of the relational model to store content and scores allow for further extension with statistical analysis modules for learners’ rating and subsequent weaknesses of the educational process.
