In today’s globalized environment, the science of logistics plays an important role. The need for faster production process to meet demand has increased. As a consequence, transport process became faster, so did storage and distribution in order to serve the final customer. Speed itself is not enough to optimize the production and supply chain for a competitive business. It is a combination of low cost also, without compromising quality standards. This study, deals with inventory management system implemented in multinational food industry. For the needs of the study, three main types of materials were used, in order to analyze the present inventory management system. Forecast of demand for year 2016 has been determined, using data from past years and a new inventory management system was suggested, based on the reduction of overall inventory cost. The suggested system is compared with the current, noting which of them is considered more effective in terms of overall cost, given the demand. Weaknesses and drawbacks that the current ordering system has, now they are identified, given the nature of the company and its products. Finally, a new, more efficient ordering system is proposed.
