This dissertation is divided in two parts. The first part is dedicated to the risks that arise during the realization of an information system and the origin or effect as well as the methods of their determination and management. Project Management is the application of skills, tools, techniques and activities for the successful planning, co-ordination, realization, supervision and inspection of a project. It analyzes the term "risk management", which is the main core of strategic management of every organization. It is the way in which organizations approach risks relating their activities aiming the achievement of profit in every activity. Moreover there will be a case study which will conclude all the risk management procedure. In the second part it analyzes the return on investment and the usefulness of investments for an enterprise. It refers to the cost of an investment which is the most important factor for the procedure of investment evaluation to start, since the financier flows that are expected from an investment during its lifetime determine whether an investment is profitable or not. The following methods will be analyzed: Accounting Rate of Return (ARR), Payback Period, Net Present Value (NPV), Profitability Index (PI) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Finally these methods will be compared and the cases in which their use is recommended will be mentioned. There will also be a Case Study of evaluating an informatics project investment.
