The development of HACCP studies is of crucial importance for the food industry, as it serves as a tool to ensure that the products released into the market by food businesses are always safe for consumption and consistently possess the common, predetermined, and expected characteristics as a complementary element.
Meanwhile, companies providing third-party logistics (3PL) services have grown rapidly in recent years, with further expansion of the sector anticipated in the coming years. Additionally, their selection as channels for the distribution of food products to the market by food manufacturing companies is continuously increasing.
In this context, this thesis aims to analyze the case study of a medium-sized 3PL food company, chosen to better reflect similar enterprises operating in the Greek market. For this company, a HACCP plan was developed, encompassing all necessary supporting tools, including food safety policy, flow diagram, procedures, etc.
The primary objective was to present the case study in such a way as to meet the requirements for developing HACCP studies, while also allowing for its adaptation to various companies within the food sector. In this manner, a practical tool for the food industry was created, which can contribute not only to the legal compliance of these businesses but also to ensuring their sustainability. Consequently, the adoption of the presented plan can function as a management tool with the ultimate goal of exclusively providing safe food products to the market.
