The aim of this master’s thesis is the design and development of a microlearning digital course for preschool educators, with the purpose of enhancing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and supporting everyday teaching practice in classrooms attended by children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The thesis focuses on the creation of an organized, clear, and functional digital learning environment that meets educators’ professional development needs, facilitates access to learning materials, and supports the gradual acquisition of knowledge and skills with direct application in the preschool classroom.
The course is implemented on the Google Classroom platform, using a structure that enables clear content organization, the integration of multimedia resources, guidance through explicit learning steps, and support for asynchronous study. The instructional design follows a microlearning approach: content is organized into short, self-contained learning units with clear objectives, reduced cognitive load, and an emphasis on connecting theory with practice.
The learning experience is supported through activities that enhance reflection and facilitate the transfer of knowledge into practice, such as reflective questions, indicative classroom-based cases, short comprehension quizzes, as well as worksheets and application guides proposing practical steps for classroom implementation.
Overall, the thesis presents an applicable digital professional development course oriented toward preschool special education and educational technology, highlighting the importance of SEL and school–family collaboration for fostering a truly inclusive culture in preschool education.
