This study examines the role of chatbots as teaching assistants in modern educational environments,
highlighting both the benefits and challenges arising from their integration into today’s learning processes.
Through a theoretical approach and an extensive review of the relevant literature, the core technologies
supporting the functionality of educational chatbots—such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and
Machine Learning—are analyzed, along with specific applications that assist students and facilitate the
work of educators.
Moreover, key challenges are addressed, including issues of inaccuracy, lack of emotional intelligence,
ethical concerns, and data privacy risks. The study concludes with proposals for technological
improvement, the development of ethical frameworks for responsible AI use, and the enhancement of trust
among teachers and students.
The primary aim is to offer a balanced overview of the capabilities and limitations of chatbots in education,
contributing meaningfully to the ongoing discourse on their future utilization by both educators and
learners.
