The present postgraduate thesis examines the interconnection between technology, procrastination, and efficiency within the contemporary work environment. The aim of the study is to investigate how the use of technological tools influences employees’ tendency toward procrastination and, consequently, their work efficiency.
In its theoretical part, the study attempts to conceptually clarify the three variables: technology is examined as a socio-technical system that reshapes the structure and conditions of work, procrastination is approached as a dysfunctional behavioral manifestation of self-regulation, while efficiency is defined as a measure of organizational performance.
The research approach was based on a quantitative methodology using a structured questionnaire that explored the correlations among the aforementioned parameters. The findings revealed that technology possesses an ambivalent nature: on the one hand, it enhances efficiency through automation and process acceleration; on the other hand, its excessive use may foster digital procrastination, reducing concentration and work consistency. Furthermore, a negative correlation between procrastination and efficiency was identified, highlighting the critical role of the rational utilization of technology.
The study concludes that technology is not inherently a determinant of increased efficiency but rather a tool whose contribution depends on the level of self-regulation and the prevailing organizational culture. Finally, practical recommendations are proposed to strengthen concentration, mitigate digital distractions, and develop policies that harmonize technological innovation with employees’ psychological well-being.
