Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are gaining increasing ground in lifelong education, aiming to equip professionals with a set of new skills and knowledge to effectively adapt and respond to an ever-changing work environment as well as the demands of modern societies.
In this context, the present Master’s thesis attempts to contribute to the discussion on the advantages and potential drawbacks of micro-MOOCs, highlighting them as an effective and useful educational tool that meets the needs of modern professionals who seeks to acquire new skills and knowledge in a flexible and rapid manner.
Thus, by utilizing the micro-learning method, this thesis creates a digital course aimed at training educators on the scientific field of intercultural education. The OpenEdx platform is used for the development of the asynchronous digital course, considering its capabilities and features suitable for achieving the best learning experience for the trainees. A detailed analysis is presented of the professional skills that the course aims to develop, along with the expected learning outcomes, the structure of the four micro-MOOCs, and the presentation, demonstration, practice, and self-assessment activities, offering a comprehensive training proposal for educators on the crucial issue of intercultural education in modern classrooms.
