Abstract
The aim of this study is to document the tactics and the strategies applied by shipping companies. Strategy is important in shipping, as it points out the business opportunities, helps the organization in making better decisions, improving internal and external collaboration and solving business problems. The structure of the organization is an important key to sustain the business growth. In recent years, the significant changes concerning environmental regulations, the development of technology and digital transformation in the shipping field emphasizes the need for better planning and effective implementation of shipping companies’ strategy. It’s widely known that the shipping industry plays a significant role in every nation’s economy. Greece is a maritime nation by tradition, with big contribution to the development of the shipping industry. Shipping is one of the most productive sectors of the Greek economy, bringing additional value to the economy and society in multiple ways. Considering all this, the study enumerates the prospects of shipping industry in Greece, concerning the last changes and the environmental regulations for reduced carbon emissions, converting it in an maritime industry with more environmentally- friendly impact.
