This diploma thesis presents two Total Quality Management models, which contribute
to the holistic improvement of the organizations that proceed with their implementation;
the EFQM Model and the Common Assessment Framework. Using the methodology of
literature review, secondary data are initially presented regarding the value of
certifications for businesses, the EFQM Model and the versions 2013 and 2020 of the
model. Then, the revised version of the EFQM Model 2020 and the Common
Assessment Framework as a model for the development of public businesses are
described. With regards to the Common Assessment Framework, the evolution of the
model over the years and the version 2020 are described. A comparison of the two
Total Quality Management models follows, through which commonalities and
differences between them are highlighted.
The diploma thesis concludes that in a demanding and ever-changing current
environment, businesses are required to evolve and keep up with market conditions in
order to maintain their competitive advantage. In this direction, business certifications
along with the implementation of quality models with a holistic character, such as the
EFQM Model and the Common Assessment Framework, perform a decisive role in an
organization's path towards sustainable improvement whether it concerns the private or
the public sector.
