Greece is considered as timeless the third strongest producer of olive oil in the international market and is constantly strengthening its competitive advantage by focusing on the production and sale of high quality olive oil products.
The particular characteristics of the land, combined with the climatic conditions prevailing in Greece have made Greece one of the leading forces in the global olive oil market. Unfortunately, the poor organisation, the lack of standardisation, the fragmentation of the land and the semi-certification of production are all factors that hamper the further development of the sector. These conditions have resulted in a stagnation in the development of the sector and a reduction in its market share at international level.
