Gamification is a sector, which is not particularly developed in Greek companies. However, it is a sector that will probably have positive results for the business, the consumer and the environment by choosing the right techniques. It is very common nowadays the phenomenon of an ever-increasing interest in green gamification, which now touches every aspect of our daily lives.
Now more than ever, it is very important to limit the waste of natural resources by conserving precious goods such as water. Environment is a space for which we all have a responsibility to protect it in any way and by any means.
This thesis aims, through gamification, to lead both the consumer and the business to reduce their water footprint and, as a result, their ecological footprint. Through games, the user learns information about water, ways to save more water regarding to eco tips and by adopting new habits in his daily life. In this way, every user is motivated and mobilized to reduce water waste, conserving the precious resource and therefore saving energy for the company and as a reward, they may win medals and prizes. In addition, it is important for the company to get to know, personally, its customers and associate them with the corresponding water supplies that irrigate specific properties, while offering them a more modern customer experience.
Modern technologies have been chosen for the application, which are going to make the implementation easier and faster. The application has been implemented with Node.js and the JavaScript programming language, with the framework of React JS and Redux, HTML and CSS, based on the Google Firebase, as a database with the technical IDE tool, WebStorm.
