This masters thesis presents and analyzes privacy issues in the Maritime business, mostly from under the information technology’s point of view. The main points being examined are which types of information maintained within a marine company are sensitive, how this info is collected and how it is technically protected. Furthermore, relevant privacy legislation is presented, along with marine-specific regulations focusing on data collection and security matters. We, also, refer to data-breach incidents, and how they have impacted financially the organizations.
