The necessity of people who can be effective and efficient in the development of innovative goods and services and who are described as gifted and talented, is now proven since only based on them an organisation can achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. This is the reason why this dissertation aimed to explore the contribution of the Strategic Human Resources Manager and the role of selecting the right human resources, in order to maintain a sustainable competitive advantage.
Initially, an introduction was made and the purpose, the objectives, the methodology and the structure of the dissertation were presented. Subsequently, a review of the literature was carried out and the relevant theoretical framework was presented, followed by a qualitative survey, based on secondary sources, to obtain data focusing on the contribution of the Strategic Human Resources Management and the role of selecting the right human resources in order to maintain a sustainable competitive advantage and derived from relevant academic research and systematic essays, e-articles and sources from internet, focused on the IBM’s case study. Finally, it is concluded that the IBM’s case study is a lesson about innovation and success that everyone in the industry should take.
