This dissertation presents the Greek financial system and analyzes the role of the Republic in it. The topic was selected after consultation with the teaching professor of the department, Mr. Stefanadi Christodoulo. Dealing with this issue that was arosed after the recent developments in the Greek financial system.
The debate about whether democracy and political institutions generate growth or rather economic development leads countries to adopt better institutions is likely to continue. But, as Barro and others have pointed out, this type of analysis has important implications about the feasibility and desirability of exporting democratic institutions to developing nations, particularly those with low levels of human capital. Initially, it may be wiser to promote fundamental features of Western economic systems, such as free markets and the importance of securing private property.
The paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the Financial System, its role, structure and contribution, the second chapter deals with Democracy, the third chapter analyzes the positive impact that democracy has on the financial system and also examines banking supervision and the fourth chapter is the research and its results are presented. The paper concludes by listing the conclusions drawn as well as the bibliographic sources were used
