e-Learning coaching: creating e-training, based on Self Directed Leaning

Academic Coaching is a field that is flourishing in the 21st century, as it seems that it can bring solutions to many of the issues that affect a learner, such as stress management, the development of so-called “mild” skills or time management. In this context, it seemed right to build and implement an e- Workshop that will help the participants develop the most crucial principles of Coaching, the principle of Rapport, Active Listening and Summarizing & Reflecting. At the same time, it was considered important to investigate the degree of engagement that occurred through the activities selected for the completion of the Academic Coaching Workshop: SocCoaching. It became clear from the statistical research that the activities could lead to acquisition of the basic Coaching principles while at the same time they greatly contributed to students’ engagement, in 3 of the 4 factors that consist engagement. More specifically, it brought the engagement in terms of: skills (rapport, summarizing & reflecting), emotions, performance, but not in terms of participation. Finally, we conducted a study of these results as well as a reference to the limitations of the research and suggestions for future investigation.
