Credit rating agencies play a key role in the global financial system. They have a positive or negative impact on the environment of a business, organization or country. This thesis deals with the issue of credit rating agencies in order to determine the strategic behavior that they pursue to their advantage. More specifically, based on an extensive literature that seeks to present the different behaviors that an organization may exhibit, what its motivations are, what the consequences are, and whether it will harm its financial environment. In this context, the model of Patrick Bolton, Xavier Freixas and Joel Shapiro was also investigated in two different markets in order to draw conclusions on investor effectiveness, profits, and returns. Our conclusions are in line with the authors' findings suggesting that a monopoly is more effective than a monopoly on all variables.
