The aim of the master thesis is to approach historical events with technological means. The 21st century we are experiencing is characterized by the rapid growth in the IT and Technology sector. Everything around us tends to be digital and we need to adapt to these changes. The best way to achieve this is through education. Children seem to be particularly enthusiastic about the digital world and the potential it can offer. In addition to the existing educational texts available at school, we can contribute to the creation of additional educational manuals, the main aim of which is the interaction and learning of children.
In particular, through the following master thesis, an educational history textbook with an augmented reality technology is created for the time frame of the history of the Greek Revolution of 1821. Alongside, photogrammetry techniques are in place to create three-dimensional models that will be truly preserved from that time. To achieve this, there has been collaboration with remarkable cultural institutions, such as the Onassis Foundation, the Benaki Museum and the Historical and Folklore Museum of Manos and Anastasia Faltaits.
The main objective is to create an additional educational manual that will interact with students, engage and contribute to their complementary education. For the implementation of both the book and the application that will work supplementarily, knowledge acquired through my undergraduate studies as a museologist, as well as my postgraduate skills through digital culture.
