This postgraduate dissertation aims to implement an android application that takes the user's location and stores it in a Firebase. The location is obtained either by using wifi or mobile data and GPS usage. It can then calculate the closest friends by giving the user the possibility to mass-send SMS to nearby friends in emergencies. In addition, the user can send a message to his friends and communicate with them as well as add friends. The application aims to use a social network based on the user's location, providing the ability to send a mass SMS message to the user's closest friends in an emergency. The dissertation presents the way the application was developed and the technologies used.
