Abstract
In recent years, someone could observe a development in location-based
technologies and geospatial information. Knowledge of geo-location has led
to the development of Location-Based Services. The ability to reach
consumers in a targeted way based on geographic data attracted advertisers
from the beginning of location based services development, creating a
domain called location-based marketing.
This post-graduate dissertation aims to highlight the capabilities of locationbased
services in location-based marketing. The emergence of these
capabilities is accomplished by creating a website and an Android
application. The website helps companies, that desire to introduce
themselves in location-based marketing, to create an account and make
public some offers for their customers. The Android app was created for the
end user. The user has the option of selecting the categories of interest and
then start receiving offers for the categories he has selected. These offers
reach the end user in the form of push notifications.
