Nowadays, the health sector is experiencing (a period of) major upheavals. In a period
of economic and social crisis, the function and role of the departments of human
resource management (HR) departments constitute an opportunity to achieve a
competitive advantage and especially in such a competitive environment become
more important. This diploma thesis aims to investigate the practical training,
development and retain of Human Resources in the Health sector. To achieve our aim
we constructed a semi-structured questionnaire. This questionnaire was addressed to
Human Resources managers of Health businesses in Greece. In our survey,
participated HR managers from eight different companies. The data collected were
processed by using the program Microsoft Office Excel 2010. One of our main
conclusions was the fact that the Greek businesses in health sector have adopted and
use several methods and practices in order to train, develop and retain their
workforce. Finally, they focus on the evaluation of training programs and the way in
which they manage their talented workers.
