The present project refers to some of the basic concepts of Human Resource Management,
which are recruitment, selection and personnel’s assessment. These procedures are very
important for HRM as they are connected with the way that organizations recruit personnel,
the way they select the best candidate employees and as well as they check the personnel’s
performance.
Firstly, the one part of this project presents the most common recruitment’s methods that
modern companies use to attract the appropriate candidates. For this reason, this part refers to
all traditional methods that companies use to recruit people. Selecting employees is the next
subject of this part of the project. It is known that modern companies use a variety of methods
in order to decide which person is suitable for them. For example, they use psychological and
skills tests and other kinds of tests that they are presented in this part. This chapter ends by
presenting the basic methods for personnel’s assessing. Assessment is the last method that
HR department of a company uses to secure that employees work and perform in the way that
they offer their best for their company as far as the productivity is concerned.
The second part of the present project consists of the research that has been conducted to the
post-graduate students of the department of Business Administration of University of Piraeus.
More specifically, students of MBA TQM, MBA and Executive-MBA answered a
questionnaire that writes down their opinion for the three main concepts of HRM that this
project exams. In the end, there are the conclusions of the research and the proposals for
future research.
