The aim of this paper is the planning, creation, presentation and evaluation of an interactive educational material, which can provide a supplementary support to the educational process in the kindergarten and in the first grades of elementary school.
The planning and the creation of the educational material, was accomplished after having taken into account the principles pervading the education of this age group. These principles highlight playing as a dominant teaching method, giving the opportunity to the kids to cooperate and interact with each other and also with the environment, thus getting actively involved in the learning process. Furthermore, during the planning, we considered the fact that the use of new technologies contributes to a more efficient and effective approach to knowledge.
After having conducted a research on relative educational material for preschool and initial elementary school education, we proceeded on planning and creating of our material. The educational activities included serve the educational goals of «ΔΕΠΠΣ» and the relative curriculum for Kindergarten and namely those provided for the development of activities for Language, Mathematics and Computer Science. The exploratory or heuristic or guided discovering learning provided the theoretical background of the planning of our educational material, while their creation was realized with the use of the online authoring tool “Quicklessons” for digitalized lessons.
Thereafter, we ran the research focusing on the formative evaluation of the educational material in two directions. The educational material was given for further use to kindergarten students and preschool teachers to be studied. The findings gathered from observation during the interaction of children with educational materials and the interviews after the procedure, along with the interviews of preschool teachers, finally revealed its usefulness in the educational process, which leads us to recommend its future expansion.
