View/ Open
Abstract
Every bookstore that has a small or a large amount of books has increased management needs of both the product catalog as well as its relations with customers and suppliers. The most important component of any software that fills these needs is to integrate all the procedures used in daily business operations. The objective is the information system to encompass all the operational procedures, and also to constitute a valuable tool for collecting information on the business decisions. The speed with which the user can perform various tasks in the application, combined with user friendliness, can offer impressive time savings while it can be used by any employee in the company. The present master thesis discusses the implementation of an information system for a bookstore in order to enable better management and exploitation of both the people and the resources of the business. The application combines the simplicity of use and installation of a standard product, with the rich functionality of a System for the Development of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The company data are entered in the database via the system and can then be used to provide instant information, simplicity, ease of use and integration of data among the employees of the company.
