Abstract

The subject of this thesis deals with the creation of a website for an elementary school, with content that can be accessed by students and their parents, in order to get informed about the activities, communication and information of the school unit directly. There are also sections such as: recommended websites and recommended literary books. In addition to the informative content, there is a section that contains an application of multiple choice questions through which the students can test their knowledge of the courses available per class. Apart from this implementation, we have created the corresponding application on Google's Android platform for mobile devices that support the OS. Our aim is that students discover this option as well in terms of training and education, because the mobile devices are commonly used for entertainment only. In that way, it is much more tempting for students to engage in a multiple choice test on the mobile device than on a computer or any other typical way. For the website, we used the PHP language in conjunction with HTML, JavaScript and the SQL (for the database). For the android application, we used the Java programming language with extensions of the Google SDK and for the database we used the SQLite.
