The pace of the technological development which has a great impact at the area of mobile phones as well, combining with the high requirements of the modern user was the leading motivation for Google to develop Android, a complete platform for mobile devices. The aim of the dissertation was to develop an online shopping Android mobile application. In order to achieve this goal various technologies, software and platforms were used, such as the open-source platform Eclipse and the free development Android tools. The Android application uses Google Maps and some services that Android platform offers such as data downloading through GPS. The user can take advantage of his current location to shop online scanning the products' barcodes with his mobile device.
