Work scheduling assignment techniques are applied widely in various working sectors that have to do with the optimization of human activities and abilities. Such areas include airline companies, transport, the police as well as of the hotels and the telecommunication sectors. The work scheduling assignment optimizes the effectiveness of the above organizations ensuring in parallel higher profits. In this Ms thesis it is ensured the time scheduling of the work labour and it is optimized the scheduling of work assignments for the flying crew of an airline company. It is implemented a software tool for covering the automatic monthly crew work assignment (Roistering) of flying crew staff having in mind practical rules of assignment commonly used in an established airline company. For the implementation it is used Oracle Express Database (backend – db schema & processing) and Microsoft Access 2007 (frontend). Finally, the extension of the problem in more than one different cases proves that the method works reliably and effectively, it provides optimized and faster solution and as a result makes possible the future application of it from responsible personnel working in Human Recourses departments.
