The purpose of this master's thesis is to design and develop an innovative digital course
centered on the theme of Digital Citizenship. The educational material is aimed at sixth-grade
students and focuses on empowering them through four critical pillars: information reliability
on the Internet, safe browsing, protection of personal data, and the cultivation of digital
ethics/netiquette.
For the implementation of the course, the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model was selected,
harmoniously combined with the interdisciplinary STEAM approach. This choice aims to
transcend traditional teaching methods by promoting students' active participation, critical
thinking, and creativity. Through a structured five-phase process, the course seeks to transform
students from passive consumers of digital content into active, responsible, and conscious
digital citizens.
The central research questions of this thesis investigate the effectiveness of this specific
combination of pedagogical model and STEAM approach in enhancing both the understanding
of digital safety concepts and students' active participation in the educational process. Through
the theoretical design, it is documented that experiential learning and collaborative action
enhance the meaningful assimilation of the required concepts, preparing students to navigate,
communicate, and create with safety, responsibility, and creativity within the modern digital
ecosystem.
