This master's thesis presents the design and development of a digital course entitled " Learning Mathematics through Modeling and Solving Real-World Problems − A Digital Self-Study Course for Grade 10 Students".
The course content has been designed as self-study material, fully aligned with the expected learning outcomes defined by the New Mathematics Curriculum for High Schools. The methodological approach is based on teaching mathematics through mathematical modeling and real-world problem solving, incorporating modern digital tools to enhance learners' digital competence.
The course is structured into two micro-lessons focusing on the mathematical modeling of realistic problems, utilizing second-degree inequalities and statistical analysis, using software such as GeoGebra and Excel. It is implemented via the Wix platform, employing a multi-layered instructional strategy that includes interactive H5P material, artificial intelligence-generated audiovisual media, and formative assessment. The digital course aims to make mathematics a tool for analysis and decision-making in the real world.
The course concludes with a final performance-based assessment built on authentic scenarios and the awarding of a "Math Modeling Level 1" digital badge.
