This thesis presents the design and implementation of TimeZap, a task and habit management information system. The application was developed as a functional Version 1 prototype aiming to support daily personal organization through unified task management, recurring habit tracking, calendar views, progress monitoring and reminders.
TimeZap addresses the fragmentation of productivity information across multiple tools. Tasks and habits are treated as distinct concepts, since they differ in time behavior, tracking requirements and recurrence logic. The system follows a full-stack architecture, with a frontend implemented in Expo, React Native, React Native Web and TypeScript, a backend implemented in Node.js/Express.js, and persistent storage in PostgreSQL. Authentication is based on JWT, while user passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes.
The V1 system includes user registration and login, task management, multi-day tasks, habits with recurrence rules, habit logs, streaks, dashboard, calendar, settings, themes, localization, a notification center, Android local notifications where supported, and an optional Gemini-based AI Suggestions feature. The AI feature only returns reviewable suggestions and does not automatically create user data. TimeZap is presented as an academically documented V1 prototype, not as a production-ready commercial product.
