Θρησκεία ; ΔημοκρατίαAbstract
This study explores the long-standing and controversial relationship between religion
and political institutions, posing a fundamental question: Do religious parameters
(such as doctrine and the degree of faith) influence a country's process of
democratization?. Despite increasing secularization, religion continues to shape
values and political behavior—factors that can act as either catalysts for or obstacles
to democracy.
The primary objective of this work is to determine, through statistical regression
analysis, whether religion is a significant predictor of the level of democracy. To
achieve this, the analysis accounts for both GDP per capita and the country's legal
system, specifically distinguishing between common law and civil law.
