The connection between cultural heritage and education has increasingly been reinforced through the use of digital technologies. In this context, this study explores ways in which digital and multimedia tools can be used to support the presentation and educational use of cultural heritage, focusing on the traditional settlements of the region of Arcadia.
The study initially examines key concepts related to cultural heritage, its forms, and the institutional frameworks for its protection at national and European levels, as well as the role of international organizations such as UNESCO. It then discusses the contribution of digital technologies to the dissemination and interpretation of cultural knowledge, highlighting contemporary digital tools and applications that can enhance educational practices. Particular emphasis is placed on the relationship between cultural heritage, education and technology, as well as on interactive and game-based learning approaches.
Arcadia is selected as a case study, through the presentation of its cultural characteristics, traditional settlements and sites of interest across its provinces. The theoretical framework is complemented by the design and development of the digital educational website ArcadiaEduVerse, which organizes cultural content in a structured and user-friendly way and incorporates interactive educational activities.
Overall, the study highlights the potential of digital technologies to act as a link between cultural heritage, place and education, proposing an open and adaptable framework that can be further developed and applied within formal educational settings.
