This master’s thesis examines the relationship between leadership and organizational
behavior in healthcare units, with particular emphasis on how different leadership styles
affect employee performance, behavior, and overall work experience. The hospital
environment is characterized by increased demands, high levels of pressure, and
organizational complexity, making effective leadership a critical factor for operational
performance and the quality of healthcare services provided.
The theoretical part of the study presents key leadership approaches, including behavioral
theory, trait theory, and transformational leadership, as well as their application within
healthcare organizations. In addition, various leadership styles—such as democratic,
authoritarian, transformational, and transactional leadership—are analyzed, with emphasis
on their impact on employee commitment, behavior, and organizational support.
The research component of the study was based on a quantitative methodological approach,
specifically through the use of a questionnaire distributed to healthcare professionals
working in public and private healthcare units. The findings highlight the crucial role of
active and supportive leadership in reducing professional burnout, improving organizational
effectiveness, and fostering a positive work environment.
In conclusion, the study emphasizes that the adoption of appropriate leadership practices
constitutes a key factor in enhancing the quality of healthcare services, promoting employee
well-being, and ensuring the sustainability of healthcare organizations.
