This thesis investigates the pedagogical design, development, and systematic evaluation of professional development educational material grounded in collaborative learning, implemented within a Moodle Wiki environment. The study is motivated by the identified need for structured, pedagogically grounded, and practically applicable teacher professional development in contemporary collaborative instructional strategies aligned with digital, participatory, and lifelong learning paradigms.
The theoretical framework draws upon collaborative learning theory, sociocultural perspectives on learning, the revised Bloom’s taxonomy, and models of teacher professional development. Particular emphasis is placed on digital collaborative environments, and wikis in particular, as cognitive and social spaces that facilitate knowledge construction, reflective practice, and collective learning.
The applied research component presents the instructional design of a comprehensive educational wiki integrating seven collaborative learning strategies: Think–Pair–Share, Jigsaw, Pyramid/Snowball, Predict–Observe–Explain, SCAMPER, Simulation-Based Learning, and 5W1H. Each strategy is developed through a standardized structure that includes clearly
defined learning objectives, sequential implementation phases, illustrative classroom examples, and extensive bibliographic support, ensuring pedagogical coherence, usability, and academic rigor.
The final part of the dissertation focuses on the evaluation of the educational material in terms of pedagogical adequacy, usability, and contribution to teachers’ professional development. The findings demonstrate that the Moodle Wiki constitutes a flexible, robust, and pedagogically validated professional development tool, capable of effectively supporting teachers in adopting collaborative learning practices and fostering reflective and participatory teaching approaches.
