This master’s thesis focuses on the design and development of a digital training program titled "Digital Tools and Accessibility: Document and Presentation Design for Secondary Education Teachers." The primary objective of the thesis is to empower educators by fostering specialized skills in creating inclusive educational material, thereby ensuring equitable access to knowledge for students with disabilities or special educational needs.
The methodology was grounded in the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the WCAG 2.0 & 2.1 standards. The digital course was implemented via Google Classroom utilizing the microlearning instructional strategy, incorporating interactive resources (H5P, Genially) and Artificial Intelligence tools. A central axis of the project was the utilization of Microsoft 365 for the creation of accessible documents and presentations, offering teachers practical solutions for their daily teaching practice.
The project’s evaluation, conducted through the e-Learning Quality Checker Framework (University of Piraeus, 2023), demonstrated high pedagogical coherence and full compliance with accessibility criteria. The results underscore that systematic teacher training in accessibility auditing techniques strengthens the digital transformation of inclusive education. The thesis concludes with recommendations for establishing communities of practice and the further use of immersive technologies to cultivate empathy within the educational community.
