This undergraduate thesis presents the development of an Android application titled “Plantery”, which focuses on searching and presenting information about plants, as well as locating nearby nurseries using GPS. The aim of the application is to provide a user-friendly and intuitive environment, offering real-time information about plants, care instructions, and the ability to find nearby stores that sell them.
The application allows users to search for plants based on their name or characteristics, while also providing account creation and login functionalities. Users can leave comments, communicate directly with the application administrator, and interact with the system. Additionally, through GPS technologies and internet connectivity, the application identifies and displays the nearest nurseries on a map, making it easier for users to access them.
The application was developed in Java using Android Studio, with emphasis on usability, simplicity, and seamless user interaction. The thesis includes requirements analysis, system design following the RUP methodology, as well as a comparative study of existing solutions such as PlantSnap, PictureThis, and Google Maps.
