The thesis explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the creation and development of business development strategy at both a theoretical and practical level. It adopts an interpretive and quality-oriented methodological approach, based on the analysis of secondary sources and case studies, through which it delves into the ways in which AI is changing business models, decision-making processes, and the building of competitive advantage.
The theoretical background of the thesis consists of the most recent strategic theories, such as dynamic capabilities theory, strategic innovation theory, digital value models, and open innovation strategy. In addition, the international and Greek AI ecosystem is examined, as well as key business values, organizational challenges, and ethical and regulatory aspects (AI act, GDPR).
The thesis includes comparisons of three companies, JPMorgan Chase (finance), Walmart (retail), and Vodafone (telecommunications), discussing various approaches to AI implementation that reflect the unique requirements and characteristics of each sector/industry. The examination shows that, with organizational flexibility, investment in human and technological capital, and prudent governance of algorithmic systems, AI is a lever for change for innovation and transformation.
The thesis also highlights strategic recommendations for businesses and emphasizes potential avenues for research; for example, the adoption of Artificial Intelligence by small and medium-sized enterprises, the cultural factor of innovation, and its impact on sustainable development.
In summary, Artificial Intelligence is not just a tool but a fundamental strategic lever based on ethics and governance but is imperative for success and growth in the digital world.
