This study analyses approaches to attracting and selecting human resources within the private sector. It further presents empirical findings regarding recruitment and selection practices implemented by both small and large Greek enterprises, multinational corporations, and organizations across the sectors of industry, commerce, education, and shipping.
The main objective of the study is to analyze how modern companies attract and select their personnel, as well as the key criteria that most influence final hiring decisions. The research primarily targets professionals working in the field of Human Resource Management.
The first chapter describes the concepts of Personnel Management and Human Resource Management, focusing on their distinctions, key features, and how they are implemented in contemporary organizations.
The second chapter describes the recruitment process, and the primary sources used to attract candidates.
The third chapter discusses the selection function in Human Resource Management, which is responsible for determining which candidates are chosen to join the organization.
Finally, chapters four and five report empirical findings on private sector staffing, evaluating how theory is applied in practice.
