Abstract

The aim of the thesis is to highlight the special elements of cultural interest of the Municipal District of Neo Faliro. Emphasis is placed on the promotion of the historical, cultural, urban and architectural background of the area, using modern technological digital tools and applications. After the theoretical background and the basic principles of urban planning have been established, the following is a description of the general principles that govern the basic tool used for the implementation of the thesis, namely Geographic Information Systems, as well as the methodology followed. Starting with the presentation of the historical path of Neo Faliro, the causes of both its cultural, social and economic prosperity and its decline are analyzed, through the presentation of its basic architectural and cultural characteristics. The identification and cartographic depiction of the geographical, urban, demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the Municipal District, is following presented. Finally, the historical and cultural past of Neo Faliro, as well as its modern physiognomy are presented, using modern technological tools, in order to be highlighted and shared on the internet.
