This postgraduate thesis presents the development of the eHealth application, which aims to improve communication and data management between doctors and patients within a modern digital environment. The application was developed for Android mobile devices using Android Studio, the Java programming language, and XML for the user interface. Furthermore, it leverages the Firebase platform for user authentication and data storage, enabling real-time synchronization and dynamic data updates.
The system supports three user roles: administrator, doctor and patient, each with distinct access levels and functionalities. The administrator is responsible for approving or rejecting doctor registration requests and overseeing the overall operation of the system. Doctors can record their professional information, configure their working hours, search for patients, document medical visits, schedule and manage appointments and prescribe medications. Patients, on the other hand, are able to register in the system, search for available doctors by specialty, book appointments and review their medical history.
The eHealth application contributes to the digitalization of medical records, the improvement of healthcare service organization, and the facilitation of patient access to medical services. Future enhancements may include integration with public health systems and expansion to other countries.
