This thesis focuses on the study and educational use of the Thinking Routines, a set of strategies developed within the Harvard Project Zero framework, designed to make students’ thinking visible and to cultivate their critical and creative capacities. These routines operate as short, flexible, and repeatable practices that support reflection, dialogue, and deeper understanding, both individually and collaboratively.
The theoretical part of the study provides an overview of the main principles of the Thinking Routines, their connection to the Visible Thinking approach, and their pedagogical value in classroom practice. It examines their contribution to the development of higher-order cognitive skills and highlights their importance for inclusive education, in which all students are encouraged to articulate and share their ways of thinking.
The practical part of the thesis centers on the creation of a digital repository in the form of a wiki, hosted on the Moodle platform. The wiki includes separate pages dedicated to five selected Thinking Routines (See–Think–Wonder, Think–Puzzle–Explore, I used to think…Now I think, Connect–Extend–Challenge, Claim–Support–Question). Each page follows a standardized structure, including sections on the definition and objectives of the routine, steps for implementation, examples from classroom practice, guidelines for differentiated instruction, suggested resources, and relevant bibliography. Additionally, multimedia tools such as videos, worksheets, and interactive applications (Google Docs, Canva, Padlet) have been integrated to facilitate the practical use of these strategies by educators.
The development of the wiki aims not only to provide an organized collection of information but also to create a living and evolving professional resource that can be continuously enriched with new examples and adaptations. In this way, the thesis seeks to bridge theory and practice by offering teachers a user-friendly tool that contributes to improved instruction, enhanced learning processes, and the cultivation of a culture of visible thinking within the classroom.
