This thesis explores the interrelationship between sustainability and corporate culture, with a particular focus on the ways in which organizational values, attitudes, and practices shape the integration of sustainable strategies within contemporary enterprises. Through an extensive literature review and a comparative analysis of four international corporations—Unilever, Patagonia, IKEA, and Tesla—the study elucidates the diverse approaches and models of sustainable entrepreneurship implemented across different sectors.
The research delineates the theoretical foundations of sustainable development, tracing its evolution into a strategic imperative for modern businesses, and examines the mechanisms through which organizational culture operates as a catalyst for the adoption and implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria. Furthermore, it addresses the key challenges associated with the transition towards sustainable business models, including the phenomenon of greenwashing, the barriers to organizational transformation, and the inherent tensions between profitability and social responsibility.
The findings underscore that a culture of sustainability constitutes a decisive factor for organizational success, fostering innovation, resilience, and transparency. Enterprises that embed sustainability within their core values and operational practices demonstrate greater adaptability, enhanced corporate reputation, and long-term competitiveness in the global marketplace.
Overall, the thesis contributes to a deeper understanding of how corporate culture can serve as a driving force for sustainable development, offering both theoretical insights and practical implications aimed at strengthening responsible and resilient organizations in the contemporary business landscape.
