As today’s classrooms grow more culturally diverse, the need to foster empathy, respect and appreciation for difference becomes increasingly vital. Students often bring with them unique backgrounds, traditions and perspectives that can lead to misunderstanding or exclusion when not properly acknowledged. Instead of viewing diversity as a barrier, education must embrace it as a powerful opportunity for connection and learning. This thesis presents the design of "Includia", an educational board game enhanced with Augmented Reality (AR), aimed at helping primary school students explore world cultures in an engaging, interactive way. Players travel across continents, collect cultural postcards, visit virtual schools and interact with customs, languages and traditions through playful challenges and digital content. By blending game-based learning with intercultural education, Includia encourages students to see the world through different lenses while cultivating collaborative skills and cultural awareness. The project offers a creative, hands-on response to the challenge of building more inclusive, empathetic school environments where all learners feel seen, respected and valued.
