The thesis focuses on the design and development of an e-course for sixth-grade students. The project-based learning approach was employed, which encourages collaborative, active learning, and critical thinking through the creation of projects. The students, with the myth of Prometheus as an inspiration, like contemporary Prometheuses, are going to give solutions to the sustainability problems in Athens. The final goal of the e-course is the creation of a video with convincing and well-structured arguments according to the Toulmin argument model. To achieve this goal, the students participate in various activities such as picture description, role-play and debate. They will work individually and in groups using Artificial Intelligence tools. The activities were undertaken using different strategies, such as think-pair-share, brainstorming and active learning.
Due to time constraints, the e-course was not implemented with the student population. Therefore, the research was limited to an experimental study concerning the improvement of speaking skills, argumentation skills, self-efficacy and enjoyment. Within the scope of this
postgraduate program, the study includes a pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire as well as a pre-test and post-test, which will be used to investigate the impact of this e-course on students’ speaking and argumentation skills as well as on students’ self-efficacy and enjoyment of the learning experience. In addition to this, the effectiveness of this e-course will be evaluated through a rubric based questionnaire completed by graduates of the E-learning postgraduate program. The course includes an initial, intermediate and a final assessment. This e-course's contribution lies in creating an innovative framework that integrates project-based learning, Αrtificial Intelligence tools and the Toulmin model of argument with the use of different strategies.
