The purpose of this master thesis is to design and implement IEP’s skills cultivating education program, “Pocket money”, exclusively with the use of digital learning tools and through the e-me educational platform. This educational program is addressed to 3rd grade students and aims to promote financial literacy, as well as cultivating financial responsibility.
Therefore, the digital educational program which was designed is expected to bring students into contact with simple financial concepts of everyday life, while at the same time, its main purpose is to help students distinguish between the concepts of “need” and desire”. Consequently, students cultivate self-control and learn to spend their income responsibly. In addition, this skills workshop, operating according to the phrase “from the piggy bank … to the dream”, provides students with the necessary knowledge for planning and implementing their financial budget of income and expenses, with a main concern for saving.
The workshops of this educational program consist of 7 thematic areas, which include payment methods, income, needs and desires, expenses, budgeting and borrowing. All workshops utilize the digital tool Genially, used for the interactive presentation of topics, the digital tool Padlet, used for discussions and case studies, as well as other digital learning tools, used for exercises and application of acquired knowledge.
Finally, this educational program includes an assessment carried out by students through a quiz, created with the Kahoot! tool, as well as a self-assessment rubric, through the Google forms tool. Thus, students examine their understanding and application of knowledge, as well as their participation in the program.
