Learning basic knowledge about the human body is a particularly important
aspect of Primary Education, as students are taught to recognize organs,
understand their functions, and develop good habits related to health and
self-care. However, students interest and active engagement are often
observed to be low, due to traditional teaching methods such as narration
and static images, which frequently fail to stimulate genuine interest. In this
context, augmented reality (AR) enriches the learning experience with new
possibilities, making it more interactive and multisensory. Through the use
of AR, students can interact with three-dimensional digital (3D) models of
organs, enhancing their understanding even of complex concepts such as
the function of the lungs.
This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of an interactive
augmented reality board on the theme of the human body, addressed to
Primary Education students. Utilizing the AR Tutor platform, the project
combines 3D organ models, sound effects and educational quizzes, fully
aligned with the official curriculum. The aim is to create a modern, physical
and digital educational tool that stimulates student interest through play,
discovery and experiential learning. The educational board can be used
within the classroom as a supplementary teaching aid, offering students a
more enjoyable and engaging way to learn. Through the combination of
education and technology, this project proposes a modern, practical and
effective approach to teaching the human body in Primary Education,
enhancing students’ understanding and active participation.
