Designing an online course for educators focused on effectively developing computational thinking for problem-solving in gifted children

This thesis focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of a blended learning e-course for educators who will be teaching gifted students. More specifically, a course was designed using the PjBL (Project-Based eLearning) method and the utilization of Computational Thinking, with the project's theme being gifted children. For the development of the course, the project-based learning method was utilized, and computational thinking strategies and principles were simultaneously incorporated. The trainees are asked to work in groups, organized using the collaborative strategies of Brainstorming, Think Pair Share, and Jigsaw.
To investigate the impact of the e-course on the trainees, questionnaires measuring empowerment (LES – Weber et al., 2005) and the QM (Quality Matters) rubric will be utilized. However, within the framework of this master's thesis, the research process will not be carried out and will be limited only to the design of the training course. The innovation of this thesis is the creation of an e-course that incorporates several innovations that make it an attractive and effective training tool for educators of gifted children.
