This postgraduate work investigates the use of augmented reality (AR) in education to enhance students' understanding and awareness regarding the protection of personal data on the internet. The aim of the thesis is to create a board game with augmented reality that offers an engaging and interactive learning environment.
The educational game developed within the framework of the byDefault pilot program is called Tzimanious. It is compatible with the curriculum and meets educational objectives. The thesis addresses the development and implementation of this game in natural environments such as the classroom. The preparation and implementation process of the game, as well as the necessary training for teachers, are described.
The evaluation of the game's application was based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of data collected from questionnaires and interviews with teachers and students who participated in the program and implemented the game process in their schools.
The advantages of using augmented reality in education are presented, highlighting the improvement of the learning experience, skill development, knowledge cultivation, and the enhancement of motivation for learning. It was demonstrated that the augmented reality game Tzimanious significantly contributed to the understanding of concepts related to personal data protection, providing a positive learning experience. Finally, the need for the expansion of the educational game is emphasized, underlining the value of integrating innovative teaching methods into the educational process.
