Electromobility has been considered in recent years as the answer to modern environmental problems, such as climate change, the greenhouse effect, and the depletion of natural resources. It is promoted as a solution for reducing pollutant emissions and protecting the environment, while the European Union and Greece have already established regulatory frameworks to promote electric vehicles with the goal of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions.
The study examines the gradual expansion of electromobility and its importance for sustainable development, emphasizing that the transition from internal combustion vehicles to electric vehicles is inevitable and accelerating faster than expected. However, questions arise regarding the readiness of the state, infrastructure, and businesses to support this new reality.
A case study of a large car leasing company in Greece is presented, where, through individual interviews, an attempt is made to understand how the company perceives the phenomenon of electromobility, how it affects the company, and what strategies it has implemented to adapt to this phenomenon.
From the analysis of the data, it is concluded that electromobility is currently the only way to protect the environment in the transportation sector. Nevertheless, it is happening very gradually, as certain issues must also be resolved, which act as obstacles to its immediate and widespread adoption. Regarding the impact of electromobility on the company under examination, it is concluded that it has introduced some new dynamics, some of which may even be unpredictable. Nonetheless, electromobility can only bring positive outcomes, provided the company continues to develop and execute strategies that will help it adapt to the new conditions while maximizing its benefits.
