The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has evolved over time, with various definitions and interpretations. Despite the multitude of definitions, three commonalities emerge: it is closely linked to sustainable development, it is voluntary in nature, and it is a strategic choice for businesses. CSR focuses on three pillars - people, planet, and profit - and it is vital in the modern business world, offering short and long-term benefits to businesses. Codes and guidelines are essential to promote CSR for the enhancement of the positive contribution of companies to economic, environmental, and social progress globally. Initiatives by organizations such as CSR Europe and the UN Global Compact further promote CSR and sustainable development. However, one issue of great concern is the gender pay gap, which is the result of discrimination and social prejudices that hinder women's progress in society and the labour market. Although there are no marked differences in productivity between the sexes, unjustified wage inequalities persist. Gender inequality has long been a concern for society and business, but it is only recently that the impact of CSR on gender equality has begun to be considered, which plays an important role in promoting gender equality, addressing wage inequalities, and enhancing women's equal access to opportunities. Companies that prioritize gender equality through CSR have multiple benefits such as increased innovation and productivity, improved corporate image and greater economic growth. Multinational companies have created various initiatives, empowering women in vulnerable groups globally and developing programs to empower women in their industries, highlighting efforts to address gender inequalities.
